Windows 7 Restore Point

Having a Windows 7 restore point means having the ability to restore your computer to a specific point and time. This can very important to most computer users, due to the fact that such restoration processes can eliminate technical problems and instabilities that could arise during the use of your computer.

Consider this situation: your computer system is running perfectly fine with no noticeable problems of any type. However, you install new hardware or software on your computer and suddenly discover that your computer system is now not operating correctly. Even if you remove the elements that you believe have caused this instability, your computer system may still not recover and act properly.

This is where ‘system restore’ on Windows 7 comes into use. Your Windows 7 system will create what are known as ‘restore points.’ You can choose a restore point by date and time. If you experience a problem like the one detailed above, you can choose a date and time prior to the installation of the hardware or software that you believe caused your computer to become unstable. In doing so, your computer will restore itself to the exact settings of your selected restore point.

How do I Create Restore Points on Windows 7?

It should be noted that Windows 7 will automatically creates restore points by default. If your system has made no scheduled restore points within 7 days, Windows 7 will automatically create them for you. It will also create such restore points before ever adding a new program or driver to your computer system.

For example, if you were to install a new driver for a webcam on your computer, before Windows 7 would allow you to do that, it will quietly create a restore point ‘behind-the-scenes.’ This is a useful default feature. If you install this driver and your system acts out of the ordinary, you can simply call up this restore point to take your computer back in time to fix the errors that you are experiencing.

You can also manually create restore points in Windows 7 by following these simple steps:
